Roy's Grocery

In fact, the Roy’s

Grocery sign has been

added to our local

Historical Society archives.

It has been featured

during special museum

exhibits there. But back

to our guys, who

offered their signature

roast beef–cooked on

the premises. It made

up into an excellent

“wedge”; which was,

of course, our name

for a submarine sand-

wich. Personally, I liked

this meat even better

when it was served

inside one of the sliced

hard rolls (presumably,

brought over from

next-door neighbor–

“Birrittella’s Bakery”).

Also popular were:

potato salad; its

seven-layer cake;

and especially, the

meatball & cheese

grinder (for some rea-

son, our wedge “rule”

did not apply in this

case).
